If God made the world,
Where is He now?
He realized His mistakes,
And He had to leave town
And never be found.
I'm kind of like that.
Once I go, there's no coming back.
The breezes are nice.
The sunsets are fine,
But I can't see anything but the one in your eyes
When I told you I was gone.
I told you not to write.
I paid for my gasoline
And got on with my life.
I'm sleeping in a motel in California.
I'm headed back to the East Coast.
Told myself I'd never ever phone ya
I'm driving right past West Virginia.
You wrecked my world,
And where are you now?
Holding onto someone
In the back of a pickup.
And I need you to know,
I don't like that.
But I knew once I left, you'd never look back.
But I'm at it, too.
I've found someone new
In every major city I found my way into.
I'm empty inside,
But then I see the city skylines
And I'm a little more fine.
I'm sleeping in a motel in California.
I left you at the East Coast.
I told myself I'd never ever phone ya
Once I made it out of West Virginia.
I'll head to London in the morning
While you're standing at the East Coast
Wondering if I'll ever be returning
While that girl is right there yearning for your love.
If God made the world,
Where is He now?
He realized His mistakes,
And He had to leave town
And never be found.
I'm kind of like that.
Once I go, there's no coming back.
